Since the solid particles are larger than the gaps caused by the unevenness, more distance must be filled between the cooler and the heat spreader. A heat-conducting medium in the form of liquid metal does not have this problem because it does not contain any "large" particles. The adapter screws can be used to mount CPU coolers that require an M3 or M4 thread instead of the UNC 6-32 thread of the mounting screws of the cooler bracket, as is the case with various AIOs or water coolers. With the offset brackets, compatible CPU coolers can optionally be mounted offset on the processor to optimise cooling performance. Since the introduction of the chiplet design in Ryzen CPUs, the hottest point of the heat spreader is no longer in the middle, but has been offset slightly downwards and, depending on the CPU, towards the edge. AM5 Adapter & Offset Mounting Kit: adapter screws and offset mounting of the CPU cooler with the help of the offset mounts, the CPU cooler can be mounted closer to the hotspot of the processor, allowing heat to be dissipated from the CPU chiplets more quickly and efficiently. Do not bring into contact with aluminium! Conductonaut Extreme thermal paste is technically not a thermal paste, as a paste consists of liquid and solid particles. The disadvantage of a paste is the solid particles. The surfaces of the base plate of the CPU cooler and the CPU heat spreader are uneven on a microscopic level. A traditional thermal paste fills these irregularities unevenly. Since the solid particles are larger than the gaps caused by the unevenness, more distance must be filled between the cooler and the heat spreader. A heat-conducting medium in the form of liquid metal does not have this problem because it does not contain any "large" particles. As a result, the surfaces of the CPU cooler and heat spreader are closer together. At the same time, liquid metal has a constant heat transfer, while the larger solid particles in pastes usually conduct heat better than the paste parts. Liquid metal is preferable to thermal paste, especially in high energy applications. Conductonaut Extreme is manufactured to the highest quality standards at our production site in Germany. A high contact pressure of around 300-400N is required for optimum distribution of the liquid PhaseSheet PTM and thus the lowest possible layer thickness. PhaseSheet PTM has a very low viscosity in its liquid state and contracts again when it changes to a solid material, thus minimizing the pump-out effect. The pump-out effect is particularly pronounced when combining a copper cooler on a graphics chip because silicon and copper have different linear expansion when heated. The temperatures under load cause the heatspreader and the base plate to deform (concave or convex) and return to their original shape (straight) when they cool down. As a result, the thermal paste is slowly pressed out between the heatspreader and the base plate of the CPU cooler, for example.
