Drink it now, or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving. In 1985, the pioneering spirit brought founder David Hohnen and winemaker Kevin Judd to Marlborough, where they produced an aromatic and bold Sauvignon Blanc. Cloudy Bay was one of Marlborough's top five wineries and quickly gained worldwide fame as a recognized producer of New Zealand's Sauvignon Blanc. Since then, the company has continued to expand with an excellent range of products. Most of the vineyards are planted with New Zealand's successful grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc. There are also Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as some Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Cloudy Bay is named after Captain Thoas Cook, who sailed into the misty bay at the eastern end of the Wairau Valley on his voyage of discovery in 1770. Cloudy Bay Chardonnay is produced exclusively with Chardonnay grapes, sourced from four vineyards located in separate sub-regions, Brancott, Fairhall, Ben Morven and Central Wairau ValleyMix, on draining gravel and clay-based soils. After soft pressing, the grapes ferment in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages in barrique for about 12 months, before being bottled. This Chardonnay is characterized by a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is immediately fresh and captivating, with notes of candied citrus, stone fruit, orchard flowers, and subtle hints of spices. On the palate, it is round, with sweet citrus and white peach flavors, wrapped in layers of custard. Perfect with seafood, shellfish and basically any kind of fish recipe.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2025
34.06 GBP
Drink now or cellar for up to 4 years. Serve well chilled. Today Cloudy Bay enjoys a reputation for being New Zealand’s most famous producer of Sauvignon Blanc thanks to the vision and foresight of founder David Hohnen. David recognised the potential of the Marlborough wine region and established Cloudy Bay in 1985 as one of the area’s very first wineries. The property takes its name from the nearby coast which helps give the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon its characteristic freshness and perfectly-poised balance thanks to cooling sea breezes during the warm summer growing season. The fruit for this iconic wine is sourced from 91 vineyard parcels in the Rapaura, Fairhall, Renwick and Brancott subregions of the Wairau Valley. Once in the winery it is carefully vinified with minimal intervention to allow the telltale personality of the terroir and the grape shine through. Each parcel is kept separate throughout the winemaking process to give the winemaking team maximum control over the final blending. On the nose you’ll immediately notice the classic New Zealand Sauvignon notes of gooseberry, fresh lemon juice, and ripe stone fruit. The first sip reveals a mouthwatering freshness carefully balanced by a smooth texture, medium body and juicy peach, apricot and nectarine flavours which end in a pure, clean finish. The crisp flavour profile makes this a great aperitif or partner for sushi, grilled fish, seafood and leafy summer salads.
Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2023
43.32 GBP
Drink now through or cellar for up to 8 years. Decant 1 hour Cloudy bay is synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc but its Pinot Noir should be just as highly praised! The colour is a bright ruby red. The nose shows cherry, blueberry, cranberry and hints of spice such as cinnamon and ginger. On the palate, the ripe fruit bursts onto the tongue and displays chocolate, black cherry, spice, earthiness and leather. Elegant tannins integrate beautifully and the acid is perfect. The finish is persistent and flavour full – you want it to go on and on and it does! This is the perfect match for barbecued ribs, beef, salmon, turkey, chicken and cheese. It can benefit from a slight chilling and certainly improves even more if decanted. Notes of tea leaf, cinnamon, and ginger mingle with a cherry/blueberry core just perfectly. The wine is best with a touch of chill on it; too warm it starts to feel a bit watery. Cloudy Bay Vineyards started in 1985 and they had a vision then that has certainly come to fruition. They wanted to produce ‘wines of region’ growing the best grapes for particular terroirs. They combined that with using innovative wine making techniques, attention to detail that is second to none, and minimal intervention. The results are spectacular quality wines that are consistent and at the very top of their game.

Sea Sun by Caymus Chardonnay 2023
29.8 GBP
Cellar for 4-5 years. No need to decant it. Sea Sun wines are produced by Charlie Wagner, whose family has a long winemaking tradition. His ancestors arrived in California in the mid-1850s, from the wine regions of Alsace in France and Rheinpfalz in Germany, and started to grow their own grapes. And in 1972, his father and grandparents founded Caymus Vineyards, one of the oldest operating wineries in Napa Valley. The grapes come from vineyards in the coastal counties of Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Luis Obispo and Solano, where the cool ocean breezes and a prolonged ripening season lead to greater complexity in the wine. The subtle differences between the pedoclimatic characteristics of the various regions result in an interesting variety of aromas and flavors. This elegant Californian wine is characterized by the varietal fruitiness of the Chardonnay, with perfectly integrated acidity and delicate oak tones. On the nose, ripe pears meet delicious apples and mango with hints of buttery and toasted caramel that transport pleasantly throughout the medium body with a round and creamy mouth sensation. Smooth and ready to drink now. Try it with baked trout, butter poached fish dishes, roast chicken, or turkey.
689 Cellars Submission Chardonnay 2023
23.1 GBP
Cellar for up to 7 years. Serve chilled. The creators of 689 Cellars chose the name after visiting Asia and experiencing Chinese culture where certain numbers are considered to have special lucky or auspicious characteristics. The number six, for example, is thought to represent movement or flow, empowering us to live with energy and happiness, while the number eight is linked with unlimited potential and prosperity thanks to its symmetrical shape. Finally there’s the number nine, one of the most important numbers, which is related to permanence and longevity. These lucky numbers certainly seem to have helped 689 Cellars create some truly delicious wines like this Chardonnay. Fruit for this cuvee is selected from top quality plots in Sonoma's Russian River Valley, and Napa's Carmeros and Monterey County sub-regions where conditions are ideal for growing elegant and refined Chardonnay. Once in the winery the grapes are carefully sorted and vinified with the young wine ageing in French oak barrels for 8 months before bottling. This helps to add a rich, creamy texture and seductive hints of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak to the intense tropical and stone fruit notes from the Chardonnay grapes. A great wine to share with family and friends alongside a big platter of cheeses, leafy summer salads, or roast chicken.
Burrowing Owl Chardonnay 2023
32.84 GBP
Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. This buttery white wine is crafted from 100% Chardonnay and features a mouth-watering bouquet of red apple, stone fruit and pear, coupled with a floral layer of honeysuckle and vanilla essence. It is among the finest Canadian white wines that you can buy and is an excellent bottle to begin your exploration of this underrated wine country. Burrowing Owl Estate Winery lies just inside the Canadian border, in the northernmost stretch of the “antelope brush” terroir, a semi-arid steppe created by ancient glaciers and the rain shadow of the Cascade mountain range. The winery was founded by Jim Wyse in 1997, a structural engineer turned vintner, who places a huge emphasis on biodiversity and minimal intervention farming methods. This Chardonnay was harvested from estate-owned vineyards, before ageing for 9 months in a combination of French oak, American oak and Acacia barrels. This ageing process adds a rich, velvety mouthfeel to the wine, along with subtle notes of toasted hazelnut and oak. Stone fruits lead the way, however, with additional notes of papaya, banana and lemon. The long finish reveals shy notes of minerality. Consider pairing it with wholesome white fish, fruit salads or root vegetables, such as parsnip and sweet potato.
Two Rivers Clos Des Pierres Chardonnay 2023
23.1 GBP
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Blenheim, in New Zealand's Marlborough wine region, Two Rivers Winery was founded by David Clouston, a local winemaker who returned home after years of experience and harvests abroad. Today, the winery, named after the region's most important rivers, the Wairau and Awatere, produces excellent wines based on international varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. Clos des Pierres is a 100% Chardonnay made from grapes from The Spring Vineyard, a vineyard over 25 years old, characterized by stony soil (hence the name "Pierres," meaning stones in French). After manual harvesting and gentle whole-cluster pressing, fermentation occurs spontaneously. The finished wine then ages in a mix of new and used barrels of various sizes for 8 months. In the glass, the wine displays a bright, intense lemon yellow color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of ripe citrus, nectarines, and lemon curd, followed by toasty and almond hints on a background of salty notes reminiscent of evening sea breezes. On the palate, it is juicy, concentrated, and well-structured. It has a distinctive minerality and a long, elegant finish. Try it with four-cheese pizza, pork tenderloin, or roast chicken.

This is an excellent wine for pairing with food and is crafted from 100% Chardonnay, plucked from the hills around the village of Gaiole, in the province of Siena. Capannelle’s story began in 1974, when businessman Raffaele Rossetti acquired a 16th-century villa in the heart of Chianti. In just a few years, the winery became a benchmark for quality wine in Tuscany; and it has steadily grown ever since, now encompassing over 35 hectares of vineyards. This is Capannelle’s flagship Chardonnay, a continuation of the first white wine created by the winery in 1988. On the palate, it is a perfect balance of fruit flavours and texture, crispness and cream. The grapes were matured for 10 months before release, in a combination of stainless steel vats and new oak barrels. Edi Simcic Chardonnay 2023
23.76 GBP
Cellar for up to 10 years. Serve chilled. The Simcic family founded their winery in Slovenia’s stunning Gorizia Hills in 1990 and today they have some 30 acres of vines set on the gentle slopes around the village of Vipolže which they use to produce artisanal wines from both local and international grape varieties. The region is a stone’s throw away from Friuli in Italy, and conditions here are ideal for premium winemaking thanks to the influence of the Mediterranean climate and the nearby Alps. This sublime Chardonnay shows off the full potential of this top-rated Slovenian wine region with richness and complexity perfectly balanced by freshness and elegance. The fruit is sourced from the estate’s top vines and the young wine ages in small oak barrels for 10 months to add body and intensity to the overall flavour profile. On the nose there are enticing hints of caramel, tropical fruit, woodsmoke and vanilla while the first sip reveals a full body and bright fruit flavours held in check by a vibrant acidity. The well-defined structure makes this a good contender for additional cellaring, although it also pairs brilliantly with strongly-flavoured dishes like grilled octopus and chicken served in a rich creamy sauce.
Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Stones Chardonnay 2023
113.94 GBP
Drink now or cellar for up to 13 years. Serve chilled. Arguably Argentina’s finest Chardonnay, this stunning wine proves that the land of Malbec is equally at home crafting top quality whites. The Catena family have been making wine in Argentina for four generations and thanks to the hard work of Nicolas Catena and his daughter Laura today their exquisite wines are famed all over the world. Nicolas helped put Argentina on the map for Malbec and now his daughter is doing the same for elegant Burgundian-style Chardonnays like this benchmark example. The fruit for this single vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from just 27 rows in the family’s legendary Adrianna Vineyard which sits at 1450 metres above sea level in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. The vineyard sits on an old river bed and is peppered with gravel and white stones which give the wine its name. These conditions are ideal for premium winemaking thanks to the hot sunny days, cool nights and excellent drainage which allows for a long, slow ripening period. Once in the winery the must is fermented in French oak barrels and then aged in the barrel for 12 to 16 months depending on the vintage. This helps to create a rich, creamy texture with notes of brioche, toasted almonds and fresh pastries mingling with ripe tropical and stone fruit from the grape variety. A magnificent addition to any cellar or partner for creamy fish or chicken dishes.

Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2023
39.72 GBP
Cellar for up to 10 years. Serve chilled. Although today the Kumeu River winery enjoys international respect for their elegant Burgundy-style Chardonnays, behind this success lies years of backbreaking work and uncertainty. Their story began back in 1937 when Mick and Katé Brajkovich left their small village in Croatia to create a new life in New Zealand. By working long hours for other farmers in the area the couple slowly they saved up money to create their own winery in 1944 which is now in the capable hands of the third generation of Brajkovichs. Although the estate sits in one of New Zealand’s most northerly wine regions, the proximity of both the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean create cooler conditions well-suited to producing lively white wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. For their Estate Chardonnay the Brajkovich family selects and hand harvests the very best grapes from six different vineyard sites in Kumeu. They then ferment the Chardonnay in oak barrels for a total of 11 months. The result is a rich, velvety-textured Chardonnay which exudes enchanting aromas and flavours of white peaches, lemon zest, and hints of delicate minerality. This is a wine which will reward extended cellaring and it will continue to develop and evolve over the coming decade.

Gary and Kathy focus their attention on the natural advantages of their vineyards which are blessed with a pleasant Mediterranean climate and need little intervention in the winery to produce outstanding wines. The hot summers are cooled by breezes and early morning mists coming from the nearby Atlantic and Indian Oceans which helps to preserve a balancing acidity in their wines. Made with grapes sourced from the couple’s top vineyard, the Chardonnay vines used for this wine face south and east which helps to moderate temperatures and create an delicate aromatic character in the grapes. The result is a vibrant and elegant Chardonnay which bursts with fresh lime and lemon zest along with gentle hints of vanilla from the barrel fermentation and 11 months of maturation on the lees. The first sip reveals a rich creamy texture and intense fresh tropical fruit flavours which linger long on the tongue.
Petit-Roy Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023
28.07 GBP
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2016 in Chorey-les-Beaune, the Petit Roy winery is owned by Seiichi Saito, a Chinese winemaker who grew up in Japan. After years of experience working at various French estates and opening the La Lune restaurant in Beaune, he decided to start his own winery with just over two hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards. Production is limited, but Petit Roy wines have already achieved great success with the public and critics. The Chardonnay grapes come from vineyards cultivated using a biodynamic approach, fully respecting natural cycles and the terroir. Harvesting is done manually, and after fermentation, the finished wine rests in used barrels to reflect the varietal characteristics and ensure the production of expressive and balanced wines. In the glass, Petit-Roy Bourgogne Chardonnay reveals a bright, luminous color with golden hues and subtle greenish highlights. On the nose, it displays a fresh and fragrant character with aromas of white fruit and citrus, followed by floral notes on a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is savory and round, juicy and balanced, with a well-balanced acidity and a long, delicately savory finish. This white wine can age well for several years, but can already be enjoyed now with poultry and roasted fish.
Belle Glos Glasir Holt Chardonnay 2023
50.33 GBP
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in the early 2000s by Joe Wagner, Belle Glos is a prestigious California winery that is now part of the Copper Cane Wines & Provisions group. The winery, named in honor of Joe's grandmother, focuses on single-vineyard wines and is particularly renowned for its exquisite Pinot Noirs. The Chardonnay grapes come from the Glasir Holt vineyard, located on the western edge of the appellation, a cool site originally intended for Pinot Noir, where Joe Wagner had the idea of planting Chardonnay to exploit the potential of the calcareous soil. After harvesting and a gentle whole-bunch pressing, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in a mix of cement and oak. The finished wine then ages for 12 months before bottling. In the glass, the wine reveals a golden yellow color and a delicate and elegant aromatic profile with notes of ripe pear, stone fruit, and melon, followed by hints of tropical flowers, lemon curd, and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, it is rounded, full-bodied, and generous, lively and fresh, with a bright minerality. It displays all the richness and power of Chardonnay, perfectly balanced by a crisp acidity. It is excellent with mac & cheese, risotto with Taleggio cheese and pears, or creamy lemon chicken.
Domaine Nathalie & Gilles Fevre Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023
22.06 GBP
Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. Nathalie and Gilles met when they were both studying enology in Dijon. Many years later they continue to make fantastic Chablis wines alongside their daughter Julie who also trained as an enologist. The whole Fevre family are passionate advocates both for Chablis and for the environment. They use sustainable methods wherever possible in their vineyards and vinify with small stainless steel tanks which allow them to vinify each individual plot separately. This classic white Bourgogne is a great introduction to the Fevre house style which typically shows off the character of both the Chardonnay grape and the terroir. Grapes are grown on rich clay soils on a specific 1.65 hectare plot of the Fevre family vineyards in the village of Fontenay-Près-Chablis. After careful handling the young wine is aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks. In the glass you’ll immediately notice the delicate aromatics of spring orchard blossom and toasted almonds followed by hints of green apple, zingy citrus, and fresh pair. On the palate there’s a refreshing acidity paired with a light body and smooth texture thanks to the lees ageing. The combination of freshness and aromatics makes it a great match for roast chicken, lobster dishes, or a rich seafood pasta.

Cline Chardonnay 2023
22.91 GBP
Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. This elegant cool climate California Chardonnay is made from estate fruit grown on four of Cline’s Sonoma Coast vineyards. Three of these vineyards are located in the Petaluma Gap, which funnels cool air from the Pacific Ocean through a gap in the Sonoma mountain range. This gives the region a very long growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retaining plenty of freshness and aromatics. The fourth vineyard is located in Los Carneros close to San Pablo Bay which is renowned for its graceful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. To maintain quality the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in 40% barrels and 60% stainless steel fermenters which are kept at a low temperature. The young wine is then kept on the lees for 4 months followed by another 4 months in French oak barrels. Bursting with luscious mango, papaya, honeydew melon and ripe peaches, this is a bright, fruit-forward wine seasoned with hints of toasty oak and vanilla on the long finish. A great partner for vegetarian dishes, roasted chicken, leafy salads, or a generous platter of cheeses. The Cline family who make this exquisite Chardonnay are a truly pioneering family, having introduced a wide range of sustainable and natural solutions including a 2000-strong herd of sheep and goats who remove weeds from the vineyards. The 350-acre farm is a Certified Calfornia Sustainable Vineyard and Winery, and also has enough solar panels to power the whole winery.
