Bortolin Angelo Angelin Beo Rive di Guia Valdobbiadene Prosecco Extra Brut 2025
24.15 GBP
Enjoy it now, or within 2 years of bottling. No need to decant before serving. Bortolin Angelo winery is renowned within the Valdobbiadene DOCG for its excellent sparkling wine. The winery was founded in 1968 by Angelo Bortolin, the son of a farmer, and since 1983, the winery has specialised in making sparkling wine. Angelo has taken a back seat in recent years, but business is booming under the leadership of his three children, Desiderio, Cristina, and Paola. Valdobbiadene is considered to be the best region for Prosecco in all of Treviso and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its terroir is defined by the sheer edges of the Alps - vineyards are planted on steep slopes, and Bortolin Angelo winery harvest theirs by hand. The Glera grapes for this wine were sourced exclusively from the village of Guia. Named for the winery’s founder, this is an incredibly clear wine, appearing almost silver in the glass. Aromas of ripe melon appear on the nose, with hints of yellow flowers. This wine aims for a pure expression of the Guia terroir, the place the Bortolin family call home. It has prominent mineral notes, with delicate yellow fruit and dancing bubbles that dissolve into a bone-dry finish. Enjoy it alone, or pair it with appetisers and rich seafood dishes. Best served chilled, in a very large glass for aeration.
Ruggeri Superiore di Cartizze Brut
25.49 GBP
Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. Ruggeri is regarded as one of the five original Prosecco producers, working closely with 110 long-term partner growers who own small vineyards across the region. Although first established in the town of Santo Stefano, the winery later moved to the town of Valdobbiadene which is today known around the world for its exceptional sparkling wines. Ruggeri is actually the only Prosecco producer to hold the prestigious Gambero Rosso “star” award, a prestigious accolade given to wineries with 10 or more Tre Bicchieri awards. To maximise quality, all of the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully transported to the winery in small crates. The fruit is then vinified in stainless steel tanks according to the Charmat method which is traditionally used to make Prosecco, and left to mature on the lees to add polish and extra complexity. Fragrant almond blossom, flower honey, and white peaches dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a delicate mousse, smooth texture, and delicate citrus and orchard fruit flavours. The finish is pure and elegant with a mouthwatering freshness that gently cleanses the palate. A great wine to serve as a classy aperitif or partner for fresh seafood, sushi, leafy salads, or spicy Asian dishes.
