The modern wine business began in 1992 when the Piedmontese Giulio Bertrand acquired the estate to focus on the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The company name derives from the term in the local Boer dialect which means "star of the day". Morgenster's Estate Reserve wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in equal measure with additions of Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. In the vineyard, the grapes are treated with particular attention to the vegetative cycle of the plant to ensure perfect ripening, with the advice of Pierre Lurton of Château Cheval Blanc. In the cellar, the winemaking process is followed by Henry Kotze von Morgenster. The finished wine then ages for 18 months in French oak barriques (60% of which are new). The wine shows a beautiful deep ruby-red color. The nose is fragrant, intense, and complex with aromas of plum, undergrowth berries, almonds, coffee, caramel, graphite, and cigars. On the palate, it is full-bodied, elegant, and round. The tannins are soft and the long lingering finish reveals a wonderful balance between acidity and minerality. Perfect with game and red meat stews.

Located in Oregon, Montinore Estate is a winery founded in the early 1980s that produces premium, certified biodynamic wines. The company owns approximately 80 hectares of vineyards spread across the Tualatin Hills AVA, planted with Pinot Noir and other Italian and international varieties. The Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is the result of the finest grapes of each vintage from the estate's vineyards. After harvest, fermentation occurs separately for each batch using a blend of indigenous and selected yeasts. The wine is finally blended after aging to harmonize the characteristics of the various clones and reflect the expression of the terroir. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with initial notes of red and dark fruits (raspberry, pomegranate, blackberry, cherry, and plum) alternating with hints of underbrush, tobacco, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is balanced and harmonious, juicy and smooth with fine, well-integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and pleasant, echoing the fruity notes perceived on the nose. It pairs well with a variety of foods, but it is excellent with guinea fowl, duck, and turkey.

Lismore occupies a stunning setting just below the Riviersonderend Mountain Range, with its rolling green vineyards extending up the foothills on gentle slopes. The winery was founded by California winemaker Samantha O'Keefe who emigrated to South Africa in 2000 and soon fell in love with the 300-hectare property which was then being run as a farm. Over the intervening years Samantha has transformed the estate into a much-admired winery, and in 2018 the prestigious Cape Winemaker’s Guild made her the sixth female winemaker to be admitted to their ranks. This Estate Reserve Chardonnay is a great testament both to Samantha’s winemaking talent and the brilliant terroir of the estate, using fruit planted on the foothills of the Sonderend Mountain Range at 300 metres above sea level. The cool mountain climate plays a big role in crafting the unique flavour profile of this wine, since the fruit tends to be harvested 3-4 weeks after most of South Africa’s other winemaking regions. Once in the winery the juice is fermented in 500 litre barrels and then left to mature for 11 months. This adds gentle hints of honey, vanilla, and walnuts to the intense stone fruit, citrus and jasmine notes as well as a rich, creamy texture which is carefully balanced by freshness.

Domaine Perrin is a boutique family-run winery which was founded in 1972 by Roger Perrin who began bottling and selling his own wines after taking over the estate from his winemaker father-in-law, Paul Bravay. Today Roger’s daughter, enologist Veronique Perrin-Rolin, and her son Xavier take care of the estate with a view to handing it over to future generations of the family when the time is right. Despite its recent foundation, Domaine Perrin boasts several parcels which were planted in the early twentieth century and is blessed with some vines which are over a century old. These ancient vines are the source of the grapes used for this wine and help create a generous, full-bodied red which is bursting with complex layers of ripe dark fruit, sweet spices, leather, and hints of Mediterranean herbs. Predominantly crafted from Grenache grapes which give a rich, opulent character to the wine and a silky smooth texture, the young wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months to fully integrate the different components of the blend. The bold flavour profile of this wine makes it an ideal match for pheasant, quail and partridge dishes or, if you prefer to keep things simple, a juicy ribeye steak.

The estate, owned by the family of founder Goga Maisuradze, boasts approximately 5 hectares of land where local grape varieties are grown for the production of premium wines. The Rkatsiteli grapes, one of the most widespread and famous indigenous Georgian varieties, are harvested by hand and selected from the company's vineyards located in the Kakheti region. Today the estate, which extends over approximately 65 hectares, is managed by Gerhard and his daughter. They produce renowned high-quality wines from local and international grape varieties. The grapes for the Pinot Noir Reserve come from Ried Scheibner located between the Aubühel and Bärnreiser vineyards in Höflein at 220 meters above sea level. Here the vines benefit from eastern exposure and a conical shape that creates protection from the winds. They are rooted in calcareous soil with sand and gravel on the surface and loess in some places. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats, the finished wine rests for 16 months in barrels of various sizes. On the nose, the wine reveals an intense and broad aromatic profile with notes of red fruits, rose hips, spices, and licorice. On the palate, it is concentrated, elegant and balanced. It has a medium body and fine, velvety tannins. It is fresh and smooth, with a long finish that recalls notes of licorice. The Allram estate is recognised as one of the Kamptal region’s finest thanks to the hard work and dedication of Michaela Haas-Allram and her husband Erich who took over from her parents in 1992. The Kamptal has a growing reputation for exceptional white wines thanks to the steep terraced vineyards which look down on the Kamp river below. The Allram family have been making wine here for decades and benefit from some of the region’s finest vineyards, including plots in the premier Heiligenstein, Gaisberg, and Renner crus. This charming Grauburgunder is crafted from the Pinot Gris grape grown in their 6 hectare Hasel vineyard. It’s a prized site that’s rich in chalk, loess and hummus and sits at 360 metres above sea level, providing great growing conditions for this white wine variety. The ample sunshine and cooler nights help to lock in plenty of freshness as well as ripe fruity character, creating a very well-balanced and approachable wine. Once in the winery the fruit is fermented in 300 litre casks before being left to age for 6 months on the gross lees and another 6 months on the fine lees. This adds plenty of power and complexity to the wine, producing a full-bodied wine with a creamy, silky texture and intense notes of ripe orchard fruit, honey, fresh pastries, and lingering notes of citrus and spice.
